The Common Place Periodical

Themes

Submissions don’t have to fit the themes 100%, but it’s good to know them in advance (perhaps they’ll provide helpful boundaries!).

  • Autumn (releasing Oct. 1): Trusting the slow process

  • Winter (releasing Jan. 1): Newness requires the old

Tsh’s quarterly periodical is a multi-page seasonal magazine filled with essays, poems, a drink recipe, a playlist, a word puzzle, art, short stories, and more.

It’s community-created. Want to submit a piece? Tsh would love to consider it! If you'd like a readership of likeminded kindred spirits, here's what you need to know:

  • Please keep all submissions within the spirit of The Commonplace, with a focus on the timeless transcendentals: the true, good, and beautiful. The point of your writing should remind us all to remember what's just beneath the surface, even when it's hard.

  • Reprints are perfectly fine, so long as you have permission to do so.

  • Keep submissions under 2,000 words.

  • Limit yourself to one submission per quarterly publication.

  • Be willing to have your piece lightly edited if it's necessary.

  • Paying Commonplace subscribers will be considered first.
