Let’s Record a Podcast Episode 🍻
In the spirit of St. Augustine's words—"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page"—the autumn 2026 season of A Drink With a Friend will focus on two conversational topics: books and places. In our short (30-ish minutes) chat, I'd like to hear about:
Two books, one from childhood and one as an adult, that's formed you in some way, and
Two places, also one from childhood and another more recently, that's shaped your life for the better.
These can be any books you can think of (don't force yourself to stick to impressive, classics-only books), and the places can be monumental or miniscule, from the Taj Mahal to your favorite childhood chair in your grandma's living room.
Want to chat? I'd love to if you're up for it! Conversation recordings take place over Substack live videos on Wednesday afternoons. Pick a convenient date and time that works for you, and we'll make a date of it.
(In the rare case Wednesday afternoons absolutely don't work for you, let me know via email and we'll see what we can do.)
Kindly keep on reading… 👇
Thanks for scheduling—looking forward to chatting! 🎙️
In the meantime, here are a few things you'll need for our upcoming recording:
A drink of some sort—I'll ask you at the start of our chat what you're sipping. (It can be water.)
An internet connection (sometimes WiFi is finicky, so if you've got a way to hard wire into your internet, fantastic—but it's not required).
A Substack account—it’s free, and you don’t need to have a Substack newsletter.
Headphones or earbuds.
A quiet room with no echo—empty rooms are the worst (a clothes closet works beautifully).
A webcam so we can see your lovely face—doesn’t need to be fancy.
Bonus: a microphone plugged in to your laptop. Not required, but it always makes you sound better.
The names of two books + two places that have shaped you, one each from childhood and one from your present day, and a few casual, organic thoughts as to why they matter to you.
Also, kindly turn off all notifications, both on your phone and your computer. We’re recording the video for paying subscribers, but the general public who listens to the podcast feed will get audio only. Pajamas are fine.
When it’s time to record, simply be logged in to your Substack account, and I’ll send you an invite link from there to join me.
Talk to you soon,
